The masking tapes featured above each have their own role to play.

3M 2214 and 3M 2308 Masking Tape are both general-purpose crepe paper tapes, tan in colour with rubber adhesives. They're the most economical and remove cleanly from surfaces.

3M 301+ and 3M 233+ are both higher quality tapes with enhanced adhesion, superior resistance to paint bleeds and remove better after being left for longer.

3M 233+ Fineline is a little different given it is so narrow (3mm wide). It's mainly used for automotive painting though we've also seen it used in model making and artistic work.

Finally, there's our Adhesive Polyimide Tape. It's actually an electrical insulation tape and it's not like the other masking tapes here. It is made from Polyimide film with a silicone adhesive on one side. The reason it appears on this list of masking tapes; temperature resistance.

Adhesive Polyimide Tape will handle temperatures up to 200°C which makes it a good, economical option for masking parts that have to be powder-coated.

We cut this one ourselves, so it's available in a huge range of sizes (widths). Since it's a film tape, it has excellent resistance to paint bleed-through.

If you do have questions about these tapes, please don't hesitate to contact us. We'll help whenever we can.
