  • Acetic cure silicone with excellent mildew resistance.
  • Excellent adhesion to a variety of surfaces.
  • Ideal for wet or damp areas or those expected to be hot or humid.

Our Sanitary Silicone – Acetic Cure is a one part silicone adhesive and sealant that combines high adhesive strength with long lasting performance. This grade is 100% acetic curing and resists mildew build-up even over long term exposure to hot and humid environments. This makes it ideal for use in kitchens, bathrooms, vanities, shower screens and other areas expected to see a significant amount of wetness or moisture.

Sanitary Silicone is non-slump, has excellent UV resistance and weatherability and bonds well to a huge range of surfaces. These include glass, ceramics, masonry, stone and aluminium. It is available in both translucent and white.

Applications for Sanitary Silicone (Acetic).

  • Sealing around kitchen benches, sinks, splashbacks and tiles
  • Bonding in high humidity areas such as bathrooms, laundries or kitchens
  • Sealing bathroom fixtures
  • Sealing showers, sinks and baths
  • General glazing and weatherproofing applications

How long have I got to use it once I cut the top?

About 5 minutes. Curing will begin once Sanitary Silicone is exposed to the moisture in the air and, since it has a skin over time of approximately 5 minutes (at 25°C and 50% relative humidity), this is about how long you have before issues arise. Please do note, this time will be reduced if working in higher humidity and/or higher temperatures. It will be extended if working in colder / lower humidity areas.

What’s the best way to remove bits that I applied by mistake?

If you get to them before the silicone has cured (not just skinned over but actually cured), you’ll be able to remove them with mineral turpentine (though care should be taken not to damage the underlying surface if it is a little sensitive). If the silicone has cured, our Weicon Gasket Remover is a good option. We’ve used it more than once to remove old silicone and it’s generally performed quite well.
