  • Versatile, high performance grade of compressed gasket fibre sheet.
  • Very good compatibility with oils, hydrocarbons, lubricants, fuels, water and steam.
  • Made from a combination of compressed aramid and mineral fibres with a NBR binder.
  • Withstands temperatures up to 340°C with good pressure resistance.

Alapin Industrial Gasket Material is a high-performance grade of compressed non-asbestos fibre sheet. Often used for making flange gaskets, this gasket sheet is a general-purpose grade with good temperature and pressure resistance and compatibility with a variety of different media.

This page lists our 1550mm square cut sheets of this gasket fibre sheet. Our online store also has this material in a number of other thicknesses as well as a range of cut gaskets to suit various flange specifications and sizes. Custom sized Alapin gaskets are also available upon request.

Alapin Gasket Sheet is produced from a specialised combination of high quality ingredients. These include mineral fibre and DuPont Kevlar Aramid Fibre. These are then bound with a NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) binder which gives the sheet excellent flexibility, compressibility and recovery characteristics.

Alapin Gasket Material is able to withstand elevated temperatures and has good recovery characteristics. It is a long lasting gasket material that will resists embrittlement and can be cut precisely.

Like all gasket fibre sheets, the temperature resistance of Alapin is linked to the pressure of the sealing application and the type of media being sealed. That said, a rough guide for this material is:

Maximum Temperature

Continuous, Non-Steam: 340°C.

Short-Term, Non-Steam: 375°C.

Continuous, Sealing Steam: 255°C.

Maximum Pressure

Continuous: 12 MPa (up to about 170°C, less after this temperature is reached).

We really do suggest consulting the Alapin technical data as this document includes a pT diagram showing the inter-relationship between maximum pressure and temperature.

Chemical Resistance

Alapin Industrial Gasket Material is resistant a wide range of chemicals, fluids and media. The list below is by no means comprehensive, rather just a summary of the most common types of media that Alapin is known to be compatible with:

  • Water.
  • Steam.
  • Oils.
  • Fuel.
  • Kerosene.
  • Salt Solutions.
  • Natural Gas.
  • Lubricants.
  • Refrigerants.
  • Moderate organic and inorganic acids.
