The waveguide in your microwave guides electromagnetic waves along a desired path, and its purpose in the microwave is to transfer and control the propagation of microwave signals.

Commonly made from brass, copper, silver, aluminium, or any metal that has low bulk resistivity, though we have found our Silicone Bonded Mica Sheet to be the perfect replacement.

The waveguide is designed to have specific shape and dimensions to provide low-loss transmission of microwaves. The shape of the waveguide is generally rectangular or circular, depending on the specific application. Microwaves propagate inside the waveguide due to total internal reflection. The inner walls of the waveguide are conductive and smooth, which allows the microwaves to bounce off the walls without significant energy loss.

Our Silicone Bonded Mica Sheet is a flexible and efficient material for insulating against heat and electricity. It is created by combining muscovite mica with a unique silicone resin, resulting in a durable sheet, that can withstand high temperatures and offers excellent electrical insulation properties.

Because of its combination of thermal and electrical properties, Silicone Bonded Mica is used in a variety of areas including household and commercial microwaves without the worry of the material warping or degrading.
