Our Plastic Metal ST is a specialised type of epoxy putty made specifically for repairs and reconditioning stainless steel. It is used for everything from repairing machines parts and work pieces through to tanks, pipes, containers, funnels and SS flanges.
This grade of plastic steel is made from epoxy resin with metal fillers. Like most epoxies, it is a two part system. Once it is mixed, it has a pasty consistency and can be applied with a spatula.
Pot life for Plastic Metal ST is about 60 minutes so you have a good amount of time to apply. After 6 hours, it will reach around 35% cure and it is at this point that additional layers can be applied if needed (max. depth per layer is 10mm).
Plastic Metal ST will be fully cured after about 12 hours depending on the environment.
Once fully cured, this epoxy putty will be grey in colour and have set hard (shore hardness is 85 Shore D). More information on its compressive, impact and tensile strength is available on the TDS.
Our Weicon Plastic Metal ST can withstand temperatures between -35°C and +120°C. It is electrically insulating and non-magnetic.
