Weiconlock AN 302-80 Pipe and Thread Sealing Compound is a special grade of anaerobic adhesive designed to work with passive materials. Normally, anaerobic adhesives only cure when deprived of air (like when they are sandwiched between two close fitting parts) and are exposed to metal. AN 302-80 still needs to be deprived of air, but it will work well with passive material types without the use of an additional primer / activator.
The types of materials able to be bonded and sealed using Weiconlock AN 302-80 Pipe and Thread Sealing Compound includes ceramics, anodic coatings, aluminium, zinc, nickel, high alloyed steel and many types of plastics. When bonding or sealing pipes or threaded connections made from these parts, AN 302-80 allows for easy application and no need for additional primers or activating agents.
Weiconlock AN 302-80 Pipe and Thread Sealing Adhesive is made in Germany and has a higher viscosity (thicker) which allows it to be accurately applied around larger diameter parts. It is green in colour and cures to create high strength bonds that are long lasting and will be hard to disassemble without the use of specialised tools or solvents. It achieves handling strength after just 2-5 minutes (at room temperature) and withstands continuous exposure to temperatures up to 180°C (or as low as -60°C).

Can is use Weiconlock AN 302-80 with plastic parts?
It really depends on the type of plastic and the other surfaces. Since AN 302-80 does work with passive surfaces it is definitely possible. That said, trying to use it with a low surface energy plastic (like PTFE) could be problematic. We have seen AN 302-80 being used to lock metal bolts going into melamine though so we know it is possible. Honestly, we’d suggest a test.
What do I have to do to prepare the surfaces?
Clean and dry as much as possible. Weiconlock grades will work on slightly oily surfaces but adhesion will be improved on parts that have been cleaned and degreased.
How long does it take to cure?
Full cure is expected to take about 2-4 hours at room temperature. The large range quoted here is a reflection of two things; the difference in what room temperature can mean and the fact that Weiconlock AN 302-80 will take slightly longer to cure on some surfaces than others.
All that being said, handling strength is achieved far faster. This will only take about 2-5 minutes.
It says it will be hard to disassemble things bonded with this adhesive. How do I do it if I need to?
There’s a few options. The easiest is probably to use a solvent. Our Weicon Gasket Remover will break down and allow the removal of cured residues of Weiconlock AN 302-80 though other solvents may also work.
Another option is to heat the parts to 300°C as the adhesive will break down at this temperature point. There’s two obvious drawbacks to this approach though a) you need to have the facilities to do it and b) this isn’t an option if the bonded components can’t handle this temperature (e.g. if you’ve used it to bond plastic pipe fittings).
